Heather Höhmann
Heather Höhmann (née Badke) is originally from Boise, Idaho in the USA. She began the violin at the age of five and was the youngest person ever to become a member of the Boise Philharmonic.
In the USA she participated in many festivals, including the Music Academy of the West, the International School of Musical Arts and the International Music Institute at Round Top. She was selected to take part in the National Symphony Orchestra’s summer festival for young artists where she performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC.
Heather completed her Bachelor of Music degree at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, where she studied with Zvi Zeitlin. She was awarded the Howard Hanson scholarship, the Lydia Van Morrison award and was given several solo and chamber music appearances throughout the eastern USA.
In 2002, Heather moved to London where she studied at the Royal Academy of Music for the Master of Music degree. At the Academy, she studied with Hu Kun and Marianne Thorsen.
Aside from the Badke Quartet, Heather performs regularly with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Northern Sinfonia. She leads the Thames Sinfonia and has also performed as a soloist with the English Festival Orchestra. Heather is an active chamber musician and has enjoyed collaborating with musicians at the International Musicians’ Seminar at Prussia Cove, the Verbier Festival in Switzerland and various other festivals in the UK and Germany.
Heather plays on a c.1720 Nicolo Gagliano violin, kindly on loan from the Royal Academy of Music instrument collection.
